The Euroleague season 2010/2011 started with the draw for regular season groups. The draw has been held in Barcelona in the presence of all clubs' representatives. The draw was held correctly and here are the groups:
GROUP A: Caja Laboral, Maccabi Electra, Partizan mt:s, Asecco Prokom, Žalgiris and group B qualifier.
GROUP B: Olympiacos, Real Madrid, Unicaja, Virtus Roma, Brose Basket and group A qualifier.
GROUP C: Barcelona, Montepaschi Sienna, Lietuvos Ritas, Fenerbahče Ulker, Cibona Zagreb and Shole.
GROUP D: CSKA, Panathinaikos, Valencia, Efes Pilsen, AJ Milano, Union Olimpija.
The Black and Whites will have two clashes with the champions of Spain and the direct final four rival in the previous season and Vlada Jovanović, new BC Partizan m:ts Head Coach, gave us his short comment about the draw:
"Regarding the fact that we were in the third pot we knew that we will have to battle against two very strong European teams. All groups are tough, but I will try to analyze ours.
Caja Laboral are the champions of Spain, to be the first in ACB league is enough by itself. Maccabi were our rivals for the F4 last season and they will be certainly stronger in the next season. Prokom was a Euroleague surprise at certain levels, they will have stable budget in this season too and they are a threat with the same ambitions. Žalgiris like Maccabi have started a brand new project. As to qualifiers there is a very interesting situation because there are two very strong teams. One of them is a very strong team Khimki Moscow with high budgets and the other is Maroussi who were our rivals in the previous season.
One thing is certain and clear, it won't be easy, but we are here to play and do our best in every game“, said Head Coach of the Champions of Serbia. |
